Importing cars into Kenya involve certain requirements and some additional considerations and  benefits for returning citizens. In order to start the process you need the following:

  • Properly stamped passport
  • Work permit
  • Proper vehicle documentation
  • QISJ ( Quality Inspection Services Japan) inspection certificate
  • Proper vehicle documentation
  • Moved back in the country for less than 90 days 
  • The vehicle must be 8 years and over
  • Owned the vehicle for 12 months or more in the previous country
  • Vehicle must be a RHD (right hand drive)

The documentation required for the importation process includes:

  • Original logbook and registration documents of the country of origin
  • Original bill of landing
  • Import declaration forms
  • Certificate of roadworthiness
  • Identification documents of the owner(passport, national ID)
